If you can’t get around to getting your nails done, but don’t like how they look, follow these easy steps and you’ll be having hand and foot confidence in no time! What you’ll need: a file for natural nails, orange wood stick, nippers, oil (Solar Oil), buffer (soft), Nailtiques (or nail strengthener), polish remover (if necessary). Of course what you’ll want to do first is remover your polish, then shape your nails. I’ve discovered most people seem to know what shape works best for them. I like to do these two steps before I shower. The water will rinse off the polish remover and soften the cuticles. Then with the orange wood stick, push back your cuticles. If you’re like me and have lots of them you’ll want to buff your nail and cuticle area to remove most of them. Make sure the buffer is a soft grit. You can tell by the touch. You can pick up these items in a good beauty supply store. Then if you have any cuticle that didn’t come off with the buffer gently remove them with the nipper (only if you know how and are comfortable using the nipper do I recommend this step.) Apply the oil, this adds moisture to your nail. Solar Oil is the best nail oil in my opinion.You can lightly rebuff. Now, if you’ve had polish on for a while and this is the first time in a while that your nails are getting air to them, I recommend leaving them nude (not even clear) for a day. The air will strengthen them. Sometimes they may even hurt, this is because your nails have lacked oxygen. It’ll pass shortly. Then, apply your nail strengthener and a color if you wish. For a nail strengthener I like Nailtiques (for very weak nails) or Rejuvacote or regular nails, Essie or OPI lacquer and Seche Vite as a top coat. Again, all of these items can be found at a good quality beauty supply store. Good luck!

Been doing nails now for 21 years! I can’t believe it. I must humbly say, time does pay off. My clients manicures last so long and their nails are getting healthier by the day. I’ve got my secret formula down and it is highly effective. I LOVE doing nails!

I also had the honor of doing the nails of 16 9 and 10 year olds. The most fun thing about this besides their enthusiasm was to use all my bright colors and layer with glitter polish. I love how kids are all about the bling! The shinnier and louder the better!

Soak Off Gel

I love the concept of this new nail fad, soak off gel. One of the reasons I got into manicuring is because my own nails are horrible! They are weak and always peel. (When I was pregnant that was the only time they rocked.) I’m also a believer in fake nails. My philosophy is, if your nails are weak after many attempt at making them better maybe an overlay of some sort is your answer. To me, our hands represent so much of who we are, they’re also a form of connection and communication to our world. They are such tools and so much energy comes out of our hands. With them we give presentations, make meals for our loved ones, write (communication), wear jewelry, and on and on. I believe when one has hand confidence they can more freely express themselves. Hand and foot confidence is HUGE to me! However, acrylic and original gels do damage your natural nails and if you have weak nails like me it REALLY damages your nails putting you in a worse off position then when you first started. So when this soak off gel got introduced I was thrilled! How genius!!!!! However, what I thought maybe the case was the case. In my opinion, the OPI soak off gel wasn’t as 1, 2, 3 as it appeared. I went to the local nail shop, got them put on, and when I wanted to change my color (or take them off), the technician left me to soak in cold acetone (the fumes bothering my senses), then she finally came back and scrapped the product off my nail with a metal tool. I was concerned the term ‘soak off’ wasn’t going to be that easy when it really came down to it. I then learned about Creative Nail Design’s Shellac. I went to a demo class, got the product applied and loved it! It didn’t peel and when it was time to remove, it came off very easily. However, the product has been back ordered (i don’t know what the real issue is..i have my ideas about that), no one has been able to get product! Very frustrating. I did my own research and discovered Gelish by Nail Harmony. From what I read it seemes to be the closest to Shellac. I got the product (with the awesome high tech LED lamp) this week and had a chance to apply it last night. It looks and feels amazing! I can’t wait to see how long it will last! I’ll keep you posted!

Want to say thank you to your employees for their dedication and hard work? Big corporations are sending in manicurists as a way to pamper their employees. Yesterday, myself and 2 of my technicians had the honor of refreshing the hands of hard working IT members of a very large corporation. Even the men enjoyed their manicures…many it was their first. I also enjoying seeing many women who are hidden behind computers, who maybe don’t have to think about fashion much cut loose with their nail color! My Private Jet by Opi, Lincoln Park after Dark by Opi, Sheer Your Toys by Opi. Nail polish is a safe way to show the world who you really are!

Today I used Eternal Optimist by Essie on my in home nail client and wow, instant class!!!! I’m so glad a new nude stepped on the stage…it was time for a change from light pinks.
